This is very frustrating. Whenever I try to download anything from any site, even if I am 100% certain that it is secure, it fails to download and I get the message "Failed - Virus scan failed". I even tried to download the uninstall from Avast and couldn't download it. Help!!!

I can't disable avast for purposes of downloading a file from the internet. I've tried two methods: (1) disable all of the avast shields temporarily. (2) make exclusions for that particular website, or for that particular file extension. Avast still insists upon scanning the file after it is downloaded. So how do I turn off avast completely ...
Re: using avast to scan files before download. The .part is a temporary file used while downloading. A browser downloads a file as a temporary file. After the download is finished completely the browser will (re)name the file to its original name and put it in the download location you have specified.
I conducted a full virus scan and after the bar reached 100% it was stuck and there was only a blank page in the see details page. I am able to stop the scan by restarting the computer. After that I checked the scan history, and it told me that "some files cannot be scanned". I attempted a second scan and the same thing happened.
I have just opened Windows Explorer and selected a file right click to start the scan on the file, the scan completed relatively quickly (small file) and a popup windows bottom right of the screen opens to confirm the scan and result. There is also a More Details option which opens the main UI window. You don't say how big this file or file ...

i download WinAircrackPack from the net, when download finished, AVAST report the file contains a virus named "Win32:AirCrack [Tool]" . from the virus' name, i think may be this is not a virus, but the software's behavior like a virus, so AVAST report it, does my thought right or wrong? Thanks.
Avast automatically scans all files when opened, created, or written in real-time and does so silently unless it detects something is wrong. This real-time scanning includes online web activity. You will see a pop-up window alerting you to a block or suspicious activity. Pay attention when these occur.
