Check that your chipset is listed, then use the exe in \Cons\ME_SW_MSI\SetupME.exe to install. Gaming app is working immediately afterwards. However, some of the MSI apps might need to be reinstalled. E.g. I had to reinstall MSI Live Update. (all tested with Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon)

Try an app from MSI called GAMING APP. I know it doesn't makes sense. But for my motherboard (Gaming Pro Carbon x370) which has Mystic Light. It says on the back of the box "Mystic Light style your PC with Gaming App and mobile device". I could not for the life of me get MSI Center to give me mystic light.
Just use MSI Afterburner if you want to increase performance. Used the gaming app and uninstalled once I downloaded afterburner.
