Rise of the Northstar was founded by vocalist Vithia in Paris, 2008. The band's name was inspired by the manga Fist of the North Star (北斗の拳 Hokuto no Ken). The original line-up consisted of Vithia on vocals, Nicolas "Diego" L. on lead guitar, Loïc "Bboy" Ghanem on rhythm guitar, Lucas on bass, and Max V on drums.
