I like MCCC because, you can pick days where story progression happens and the percentage. I use it for pregnancy, pet adoption, marriage (ns can't do this). The way neighbourhood story works is that it happens everyday at 3am, which could be very chaotic if you're playing long lifespans. I had sims die/get pregnant everyday because of it.

You can go to lastexception.com and paste your last exception there (it's a text file in your sims 4 folder). Alternatively you can go to the Deaderpool (creator of MCCC) discord group and ask there. The cause can be due to just glitches in the game or from incompatible and outdated cc/mods.
Also, make sure you place all MCCC files in the same folder and that the folder is no more than one level deep in the Sims 4 mod folder structure. The Sims 4 will only go one-level deep when looking for script mods. So something like this: Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods > MCCC.
