Shades of black. Shades of black, or off-black colors, are colors that differ only slightly from pure black. These colors have a low lightness. From a photometric point of view, a color which differs slightly from black always has low relative luminance. Colors often considered "shades of black" include onyx, black olive, charcoal, and jet.
Web colors are colors used in displaying web pages on the World Wide Web; they can be described by way of three methods: a color may be specified as an RGB triplet, in hexadecimal format (a hex triplet) or according to its common English name in some cases. A color tool or other graphics software is often used to generate color values.
A mnemonic which includes color name (s) generally reduces the chances of confusing black and brown. Black is the darkest shade, and the result of the absence or complete absorption of light. Like white and gray, it is an achromatic color, literally a color without hue. v. t. e. Shades of black. Bistre. Black. Black bean.
The rg chromaticity space is used in computer vision applications, and shows the color of light (red, yellow, green, etc.), but not its intensity (dark, bright). LMS color space (long, medium, short), a perceptual color space based on the response functions of the cones in the retina of the eye.
The method used for selecting the colours for various top-level pages, e.g. Main Page, Community Portal, Contents, and Help:Contents. The 3 colours are generated using the HSV colour space, then translated into RGB. Note: for layouts with no spacing between borders, use the darker border colour.
