Minnetonka Cave is one of only two caves administered by the U.S. Forest Service. Dozens of campgrounds and 1,600 miles (2,500 km) of trails allow access to much of the forest. Lake Minnetonka (Dakota: Mní iá Tháŋka [1]) is a lake located about 16 miles (26 km) west-southwest of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lake Minnetonka has about 23 named bays and areas. [ 2 ] The lake lies within Hennepin and Carver counties and is surrounded by 13 incorporated municipalities.
