It is a flat cable with two rows of pins. Each row probably connects to one side of the pins on the actual USB-C port. If that cable becomes loose on one side, it would explain why only one side is "alive" and why pressing on the screen makes the other side come alive as well. AutomaticApple, eLeX69 and secretk. E.
1,130. 699. May 24, 2024. #1. Well, this is a disappointment. Purchased an iPad Pro 2024 11" for my wife and thought to test the date rate of the cable that comes with it. Turns out it is only a charging cable and not capable of data transfer. Spent a lot of money on this thing and all Apple thinks to put into the package is a cheap charging cable?
This is the best I can get using the pass through charging port in the Magic Keyboard case and the same speed connected directly into the M4 iPad Pro. As I don’t have in the moment a M4 handy, I measured quickly with the 12.9“ M1. The output from the TB port to an other device is only 7.5 W (5 V by 1.5 A).

macrumors 68030. Hi. just yesterday my 2018 11“ ipad Pro stopped recognising any cable plugged into it. It won’t charge and it isnt recognised by any computer it is connected too. All the cables definitely work as I have checked and confirmed that. I’ve tried restore mode but still no cable is recognised.
That probably means that the iPad pro with M1 needs Power Delivery contrary to previous models. Generally PD starts at 18w, which is achieved with higher than 5v (5v can only go to 12w with USB A and 15w with USB C), typically 9v or 12v, while a 10w charger only charge at the 5v voltage. My iPP 11/M1 can be charged using 12w adapter (iPad Air 3 ...
Faster charging baby! While Apple only ships with 18W, the new iPads actually go double that speed – up to 45W safely, according to Marco Arment on his latest Accidental Tech Podcast, where he asked Apple the question directly. This is nearing 13-inch MacBook Pro charger territory, as Apple ships that device with a 61W charger in the box.
Oct 8, 2023. #1. Since I’ve installed iOS 17.03 I’ve noticed that my phone doesn’t charge with non-Apple cable. However the battery icon in the upper right corner indicates it is charging. I thought my battery died and tried restarting my iPhone 13 Pro to see if it had any effect. I’ve tried different cables.
My ipad 11 pro 2018 has the same charging issue this forum is discussing. It started with not charging even the cable is connected. the ipad run out of battery then it starts to charge immediately. a few days later, even after running out the battery, it still does not charge immediately but it will charge to 100% if I leaves it overnight.
