Yes. Better music for starters, a lot of filler and padding is removed, and the VAs shine more there than ever. TFC's pacing issues are a result of the 2nd half of the Buu saga having horrendous pacing problems. It's perfectly fine until Final Atonement. TFC was an afterthought and made really poorly as you've seen.

VegettoEX. •. The first three story arcs (through episode 98) were actually remastered by Q-TEC for Toei. Because the Boo arc was originally not even going to air in Japan, Toei tried to make it as cheaply as they could and did the remastering in-house. It's... quite noticeably worse than the earlier stuff.
Also just a heads-up not much is really "remastered" for the green bricks, FUNimation weren't using direct film masters for GT like they did with the DBZ orange bricks, it's basically identical to what they were using for the prior singles DVD releases.
Dragon Ball (the '86-'89 series) doesn't yet have an HD master at the moment (though Toei have recently started remastering the movies and DBZ specials, so one could be on the way soon). The only BDs the UK is missing are the DBZ "Seasons", which IIRC Manga said they wouldn't bother with after the flak they got for putting out the cropped DVDs.
