Scorpions don't like our winters or elevation, so no issues there. I've personally never seen a black widow or ever heard of a brown recluse around here, I've been here 7 years. We do have turantulas on occasion (just caught one and brought it to the boys school per the teacher's request last week), but they are rare.

I wish I had read those two threads you posted before I moved to Albuquerque a few years ago from the East Coast and encountered numerous 5+ inch centipedes, some black widow spider nests, four whip scorpions, and a rattlesnake... and that was all in our first summer!
There is a black widow living in my water meter hole in the front yard. She leaves me alone, I leave her alone. The water man doesn't seem to have a problem with it either because she's been there for over 6 months. Doctor said she has yet to see a brown recluse bite yet, this isn't a popular issue in Wake County. (her opinion, not mine)
Reputation: 7128. When we first moved into our new home we had some little black beetles in the house and we were finding them everywhere, mostly crawling on the tile. Once we hired an exterminator and they started spraying outside the house we've never seen them in the house again.
And what is this im hearing/reading about brown recluse spiders and black widow spiders? Copperhead snakes in basements. On the flip side - how about restaurants, shopping, entertainment.... If you can shed some light and let me know if this move is a good one. I want to know all the gritty details from good to bad. Thanks!!!!
