I know Albany pretty well but I do not know of any gyms with communal locker rooms. Gateway sports complex in Cohoes had communal showers but the place closed a few months ago. No other gyms that I've seen in the area with open showers unfortunately. I lived in Albany for a bit and checked about every Y in the Capital District for a communal ...
The former Roosevelt School (Central Ave & Arrow St. Looks like this building is still there, but caught fire a few months ago) Maywood School (1979 Central Ave) The former Colonie Village School (1653 Central Ave. This was the Colonie Community Center until recently, it seems.
That looks awesome I live in the outskirts of Albany traffic can be horrible at times specially at rush hour. Edit: I hope you can find an asset for the Nano scale building and Suny campus also the tall buildings for the department of labor.
There are always efforts to invigorate the arts scene, but it remains at a mild simmer. Newport area in rhode island! Newport is really nice. Narragansett is a nice little beach town too. Ferry to block island too! Nice (long) day trip from Albany. The water is clear and warm. Newport’s “2nd beach” is really nice. Mystic CT is pretty nice. Lots of shopping, great food options and the aquarium.
There’s a free museum in Albany. Empire live has good concerts. Washington park in Albany. The Crossings in Colonie, Thatcher Park in Voorheesville, Troys Farmers Market and Snowman’s in Troy (best ice cream) 2.
The ethnic food is decent - but there isn’t much variety and you have to get it delivered or drive 5-10mins depending on where you live. The eat in scene is average. It’s pub fare 70% of the time, 20% Italian 10% decent. For reference, this subreddit went crazy when son of egg opened up as a Korean fast food joint.
