You will have to change the batteries, however, don't just change the batteries, unplug the dongle> For some reason, unplugging the dongle to have the computer resee the mouse while changing the batteries will fix the issue.

I had somehow inadvertently clicked on the little tiny oval switch at the right end of the ribbon bar, causing the ribbon to close. All I had to do was to click on the oval again, and then the ribbon reappeared. Thanks to a good friend, this fix was revealed.
