I did a scan in safe mode and it didn't come up with anything. I've subsequently tried to run it normally and it boots down. The way this thing works is that whenever you try to use any anti-virus programs or go to any anti-virus sites, including anti-spyware sites or any forums that deal with spyware or viruses, the computer shuts down.

Note however, that your first line of defense is ALWAYS an up-to-date Anti-Virus Program. Optional malware removal catches what your Anti-Virus might miss. I always manually update Avast defitions, than do a full scan, than update MBAM and do a full scan, when I want to check for malware. Jack
qBittorrent has the facility to: "Run an external program on torrent completion". This option has a field to enter the text related to the program into, and states that it takes the parameters: %f: Torrent path. %n: Torrent name. There is an option with Avast to scan individual files for viruses.

It started yesterday, my friend sent me a virus link via facebook without knowing. It automatically "like"ed websites i didn't. i googled it and found out it was a virus. So, I ran my free Avast and it showed nothing, so i didn't think too much about it, but changed all my passwords just in case.
Make sure that Scan All Users option is checked. Push Run Script and wait patiently. The scan may take a couple of minutes. When the scan completes, a zoek-results logfile should open in notepad. If a reboot is needed, it will be opened after it. You may also find it at your main drive (usually C:\ drive) Upload it in your next reply.
