Using headset plugged into Xbox controller, Discord won't pick up mic. So I just got a PC but realized I didn't have a splitter for my headset. I found that I could use my xbox controller for my headset. It works fine with windows and xbox app, but won't work on discord. Doesn't even recognize that I'm talking but shows up in the input dropdown.
Go to settings, system, then focus assist or search for focus assist from your task bar. Change from off or priority only to alarms only. You will still get the ping sound when you get a notification and your notification bubble on discord will still display the number of messages directed at you or the red bubble for muted channels and such ...
Select the Recording Tab. Find the Turtle Beach headset in this list (On my friends computer it was listed as an Xbox Controller I think) Right click and go to Properties. Click on the Advanced tab (Should be the last one) Uncheck both Check Boxes under the Exclusive mode. Make sure the headset is on and connected to the computer, restart discord.

Note: why the two windows? Simply because Discord will not show an overlay on any transparent window. So I have to display a "game" window for discord to draw its overlay on, and a second window that copies the image but is transparent. This would all be much simpler if Discord allowed transparent windows. This is all open source, under GNU GPLv3
Ok. Your Xbox discord chat cannot be captured with your current hardware, or without making some serious sacrifices like going to a wired headset. However, a desk microphone, and a Bluetooth earbud connected to the PC for discord will fix the issue. This leaves your Xbox headset available for game chat.
