    1) There is a non-grouped strong link between [ab+] and [b] in the same box. 2) The location of [b] is not in the same row or column as [ab+]. Here is an example of M-Wing Type 2C where two eliminations occur. Code: Select all. Puzzle #315: from top1465.

  3. Two definitions of W-Wing, terminology question

    forum.enjoysudoku.com/two-definitions-of-w-wing-terminology...

    The correspondence between a w-ring and a w-wing is similar to that between an xy-ring and an xy-wing. Below are two illustrations for what is likely the simplest w-ring pattern. The left illustration shows the four strong links without potential eliminations; the right includes the 28 possible eliminations. Code: Select all

  4. WXYZ - Wings : Advanced solving techniques

    forum.enjoysudoku.com/wxyz-wings-t30012.html

    What I was asking was simple enough - when does a wing grow too complicated to cease being classed as a wing? When you wrote: My answer is still a forcing network from a hinge/pivot/vertice cell with short streams -- typically two cells per stream.

  5. L2 - Wings: examples and exemplar {2 digit - 3 strong links}

    forum.enjoysudoku.com/l2-wings-examples-and-exemplar-2-digit-3...

    an L2 wing is constructed using grouped or none grouped candidates from 2 digits containing a minimal of three strong-links. a generalized L2-wing is possible expansion removes the three strong-link restraint through the weak-link via additional strong-links on one candidate. if these are used the designation gL- Wing is warranted.

  6. Local - Wing : Advanced solving techniques

    forum.enjoysudoku.com/local-wing-t34685.html

    {Local wing} L-WING x=(x-y)=(y-z)=z z may be eliminated from the beginning cell and x can be eliminated from the ending cell. aka L3- wing i will note it has 100% overlap with hybrid wings: however both names have been out for a number of years and I wont dispute either claims to first, this post is here mostly for posterity on the move set.

  7. xy-chain: description and example : Advanced solving techniques

    forum.enjoysudoku.com/xy-chain-description-and-example-t1131.html

    Similar to the xy-wing, the xy-chain makes use of the special property of cells with 2 candidates. If three cells A, B, C, with A-B in the same unit and B-C in the same unit, have candidates zx, xy and yz respectively, then z can be removed from the candidates of all the cells (different from A, B, C) contained in the intersection of two units ...

    -z repesents excluded candidates via xy-wing -Z,-X,-Y repesents excluded candidates * represtns excluded "z" candidate via xy-wing, Updated: A way to identify these: {this works for every N size "wing" } build your wing identify the extra "z" candidate pick a "Target" Sector that has no candidate "z" from the wing

  9. Named chains: "Wings & Rings" structure for I'ding in code.

    Code: Select all Abbreviation keys: (V)alue (L)ocation (C)ell (S)ector my code takes the nodes of each strong link by type: Cell, or Sector and sorts the string into smallest order first which isolates duplicates and minimizes the classification for equal chains that are in reverse order.

    You can assume one of the cells outside the group sharing a row with the group is true; you can do the same for columns; or you can assume one of the candidates outside the fish group breaking the odd loop of conjugates is true. The last seems to be the most efficient way for these (often the only way).
