ATT makes you put your account number in the phone number associated with the account will not work. That is why no one can pay without signing in. Not sure why ATT will not make this an option if it is listed as an option. For me, directv is the best choice. This is robbery plain and simple.

If you've never logged in you can setup the login on the DirecTV website with information beyond your account number. You can pay there as well. If you pay over the phone with the voice system or online it posts same day. By any other 3rd party method (bank's bill pay, MoneyGram, etc.) it can take up to 3 business days to post.

Without tricking the Computer or clearing history on the computer, Why can't I just use the log in I provided long ago to pay my bill. I want to sign up for autopay but am also afraid it will get confused and autopay my Cellular bill ($400).
You don't need your account number. Even if you are registering on the DirecTV website for the first time, you only need to input 2 of the 3 required fields. So phone number on file and zip code will allow you to create the online access. The account number is listed on the DirecTV bill (their bill only, not a AT&T combined bill).
