Open Settings > Apps. In the center pane select Advanced app settings > App execution aliases. Toggle off Notepad. Then go to the old Notepad at C:\Windows\Notepad.exe and right click > Pin to the taskbar/Pin to start/Send to Desktop. Launch the old Notepad from the shortcut you just created.
Can anyone download the new Notepad Version with tabs. I seem to have the most current version, i.e. nothing to download on Windows Update. I have 22h2 and the Notepad Version is Windows Notepad 11.2210.5.0. Windows Version is 22H2 (22621.1485). I tried the Microsoft Store and looking at Library, there are no updates for Notepad.
The windows notepad is not installed on my new Windows 10 Pro client. Using Windows Store to install it, it states you need minimum Windows 10 version 19541.0 or higher. I've updated my windows to the latest version by Windows Update -> Windows 10 Pro 19041.388. The install option from Windows Store is disabled.
Having an issue with getting Notepad installed on new Windows 21H2 images. I have mounted the WIM file we deploy with SCCM and I can see Notepad.exe in Windows\system32 of the mounted WIM file. but Notepad.exe is missing on all of the machines we have imaged. I have tried to deploy using Store Apps and that says installed/compliant.

Replied on December 24, 2023. Report abuse. Resetting Notepad should purge the confidential file from the caches. Open Settings, Apps. Click Installed Apps. Search for Notepad. Click on the ellipsis icon adjacent to "Notepad", and click "Advanced options". . In the resulting screen, click "Reset".
