Perfectly normal and very annoying - no of us have any idea why Amazon allow this - it’s annoying for us as you’ve encountered and equally annoying for the customer who most of the time have no idea their payment details are not longer valid and ignore Amazon’s automated ‘please update your payment method’ messages.

WeCostLess: Does anyone know if there is a limit to how long orders like this stay open on Amazon. Pending orders / payments can last from days to about 2 weeks or so. The pending signifies an issue with the buyer’s credit / debit card. If the buyer fails to respond to Amazon’s notification emails Amazon finally cancels the order.
