AOL has released a new beta version of their venerable AOL Instant Messenger program. The AIM 6.9 Beta 3 sports new icons, new design, a return to the “running man” logo and integration with Bebo profiles. And — hold onto your seats — you now have the option to display emoticons as text!
AIM 5.x for Windows doesn’t create chat logs. The “filelib” folder is the default folder created by AIM for your file library. In AIM, go to Preferences > File Sharing and you’ll see where this is setup. By default, file sharing is disabled, and I recommend that you only enable it when you need it and turn it back off when you’re done.
Okay, so I had 2 versions of AIM and now I am migrating to 6.8 so I deleted the little AIM running man icon shortcut thingie from my toolbar (not an AIM toolbar… must be an IE one??). Anyway, how do I put the AIM logo icon shortcut thingie on there for AIM 6.8?
It's a lot easier to recognize the AIM logo than to… I have Trillian 0.72 on one comptuer and 0.73 on another - on 0.72, the various IM client icons appear at the bottom of my contact list, but on 0.73 the icons appear as colors.

I have found that the 32-bit AIM program icons do not display as 32-bit in Windows operating systems that are not XP. Even if the color mode is set to 32-bit, the icon will only display in 256 colors.
