But as the article in the question's first comment mentions, you can emulate such a device and thus use WhatsApp directly in your computer (i.e. run Android in your computer). It'll be slow and unfriendly though. If it's any consolation, WhatsApp plans to support Desktop computers independently.

When I move the cellphone up and down, the image goes left and right, and vice-versa. This happens when taking pictures, and for scanning the QR code. But you can still scan the QR code for WhatsApp Web. You have to turn your camera around so that image of the QR code (in your phone's screen) is being SCANNED FROM TOP TO BOTTOM.
To clarify what NB said above, open whatsapp app on your mobile, tap on the 3 dots in the upper right corner, select "WhatsApp Web", then scan the QR code displayed on your computer with your phone. Share
