Something funny is that Denon has a few 4 ohm capable receivers (per their sales literature), and marantz separates don't mention anything past 6. Denon: Each channel is rated at 150 watts (8 ohms, 20Hz~20kHz, 0.05%THD), and all channels are able to safely drive lower impedance speakers (down to 4 ohms). Marantz Amp:

Currently working on putting the finishing touches on my home theater. My receiver can process 11 channels, but only power 9 (Denon). If I remember correctly, it claims around 160w per 2 channels, but obviously powering all 9 channels will be much lower per channel output.
I recently purchased the BASX A3 and currently using it for 2-Channel music given that my Yamaha TSR-700 only has a LF/RF preouts. When only using 2-channels the amp puts out 150 watts / channel into 8 Ohms. It was a world of difference even at lower volumes, especially in the bass department. No regrets.
