Sometime in 1964 Conaway was going to NYC to film some stories on the New York World's Fair for local consumption.

You can have channel 7 and channel 54 both broadcasting on the same channel 25 transmitter, but identifying themselves as channels 18 and 44. It's the price we pay for wireless internet. In Houston, a bunch of the TV stations realize that their signals aren't being seen by people in my situation, so they're transmitting on multiple channels.

From 1968 to 1969, they used a logo in a TV screen that said "Channel 2". It was as boring as dry toast. The classic(IMO) "Big 2" logo debuted in 1969 with a splash-numerous vertical half-page ads that loudly announced "Big 2 News with Steve Smith" (or Larry Rasco). The 2 took up most of the ad, and there was a photo of the anchor inside the 2.

Channel 4, KRLD in Dallas, channel 5, WBAP in Fort Worth and WFAA were the only tv stations in DFW then. About Ray Miller, he was the news director for both KPRC radio and TV when I was there on the radio side as Charlie Brown playing country music. He was the best I saw in my on the air career. Sam Sitterlee was PD on the radio side.
