We are not huge fans of home warranties but decided to buy one to protect against failure of our 21 year old AC . First year no claim , second year they (Choice Home Warranty) replaced dishwasher , clothes washer and provided prompt quality rated repair techs that made the decision the units cost more to repair than replace.
Home warranties are a ripoff. If something breaks, you are locked in to one company who will decide when they will come to fix it, and whether to repair it or to replace it. They will send a substandard repair company because top rated companies would never share their profits with a warranty company.
Major Appliances. Also, just so you are aware, if you purchased your appliances through TV's, they have a two year warranty, not just one. We have had numerous problems with our Whirlpool refrigerator and our serviceman told me not to take the extended warranty they send for you to buy after the first year.
Thanked 358 Times in 109 Posts. Home warranty phone #. I have read on this forum that I should call Home Warranty to find out what cabinets, paint, etc. were used when our 1994 home was built. However, I can't find a phone number to call and I don't have a Villages phone book. Would someone please give me the number?
A/C and HVAC and roof (not sure roof is covered) may come up soon. After the first year the price jumped and currently we are paying $560/year. Trade calls (repair visits) still cost $100. We've seen other home warranty companies advertised and wonder if a change from Old Republic ought to be made.
To me, there are 5 reasons to not buy a home or appliance warranty: 1. You cannot decide whether to repair or replace an older appliance. The warranty company decides. 2. No first rate technicians will ever service your house because they won't share their profits with a warranty company. 3.
352/753-6222 I think their hours are 8-4:30 Monday-Friday (might be 9-4:30, not 100% sure).
Thanked 287 Times in 98 Posts. The number for warranty is 352-753-6222. The ladies there are wonderful. Their policy is for them to respond in less than 4 days after receiving the report, or in your case them being informed of the issue. I suspect that the breakdown in communication may be between the subcontractors.
