Its likely your car may be able to read audio from USB flash. Worth a shot - just copy your media to USB stick and see if it will read it. My Alpine head unit will do that, purchased last year. That said, if your car is carplay compatible, i'd definitely consider getting an iphone and kill two birds with one stone.
The iPhone 4S runs iOS 9.x, the iPod touch runs iOS 5.1.1. I had to restore the iPhone in DFU mode. That worked fine in macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 with the Finder for the iPhone 4S, probably because iOS 9 is much newer. However, the iPod touch kept giving me the same error, the iPod restarted and no longer in DFU mode. But it was still in DFU mode.
The iPod touch may not provide that exact tactile experience, but it offers a modern alternative with its high-resolution audio playback, ample storage, and support for various audio formats. It's a great way to have a world of music on a single device without relying on your phone's controls.
The iPod Classic can be opened more easily and there is an adapter to switch the HDD for SD cards: https://www.iflash.xyz and it runs Rockbox. 2. Jan 17, 2020. #1. Hey everyone. I got my hands on an iPod 5G (iPod Video), replaced the battery, put in a new SD Card, and it’s been great. The interface is just dated compared to other Apple products so I’m trying to update it to look more like Apple Music. I’ve gone through some wacky lengths to achieve this so far - downloading ...
You need a 3.5mm to 2xRCA cable to connect the iPod, the converter, and an HDMI cable to connect to the car. The adapters are available for conversion in both directions, you need RCA to HDMI, just ignore the composite video input socket. Video display is disabled when driving on the Fit, but audio works fine.

iPod Touch only; iPod Classic support has been discontinued, which is the topic of this thread. I tried using Retroactive but there is a conflict of which application is in control of the iPod Classic: iTunes says another app has control, and sometimes the Finder says another app has control.
