To set the Movies and TV app as default media player, all you need to do is type default in the search bar and click on it. Choose to make it default from the file type and you're good to go. My drivers are all updated, all my apps are working fine, including my media servers, my media players (VLC, Media Player, etc.), my video games, my sound card beeping when I'm adjusting the volume, etc. I recently lost the sound with my media files when I use the TV and Movies app.
