Swarming is a honey bee colony's natural means of reproduction. In the process of swarming, a single colony splits into two or more distinct colonies. [ 1] Swarming is mainly a spring phenomenon, usually within a two- or three-week period depending on the locale, but occasional swarms can happen throughout the producing season.
Alarm pheromone. Two main alarm pheromones have been identified in honeybee workers. One is released by the Koschevnikov gland, near the sting shaft, and consists of more than 40 chemical compounds, including isopentyl acetate (IPA), butyl acetate, 1-hexanol, n -butanol, 1-octanol, hexyl acetate, octyl acetate, n -pentyl acetate and 2-nonanol.

The duration of the waggle part of the dance signifies the distance. Waggle dance is a term used in beekeeping and ethology for a particular figure-eight dance of the honey bee.
