The Municipal Court Division is responsible for processing and maintaining accurate records of citations, including all traffic violations and other misdemeanor or criminal charges filed by the Shawnee Police Department, Code Enforcement, and any complaints filed by citizens.

The Shawnee Municipal Court's policy for requesting traffic tickets, that are moving violations, be amended to non-moving violations, is as follows.
In all cases in Municipal Court, you have a right to representation by an attorney. If you have been charged with an offense that may result in jail time as part of the sentence, and you want an attorney but cannot afford one, an attorney will be appointed for you.
Those offenses within the Traffic Violation section can be found in Chapter 10.04 of the Shawnee Municipal Code. The State of Kansas requires the court to collect State Assessment Fees. Per K.S.A. 12-4116 and 12-4117, all violations, other than non-moving violations, will have an additional $23.50 assessed.
