Its not really a technologically-thought out solution, but if its just minor buffering, I normally just press the pause button on 40D/BBC IPlayer/ITV Catchup and wait for a few seconds. Then press Play again and it seems to catch-up with itself. Yes, that usually works. Or with 4OD I believe you can download the shows to your PC.
I've often used the BBC iplayer and C4 OD, and found them very good, but I've just used the ITV catch-up for the first time, to watch 'Lost in Austen', and I thought the service was rubbish. The picture quality was very poor, and I had to reload the first episode 3 times, and I gave up on the second episode after it kept stopping near the end.
21/10/08 - 13:36 #1. Have recently tried using the "catch-up" service on itv.com and I have to say that it seems to be a poor relation to the BBC iPlayer. I have made use of iPlayer for a long time now and always found it quick and easy to use, but the itv version just seems slow, with the image contantly freezing.
ITV Catchup - sound goes just before advert - then when time for program to start again sound comes back. Basically so annoying doesn't feel worth watching ITV CatchUP New TV for about 6 months now - sound OK for other programs. Used to use Chrome Cast from my tablet with old TV (only way to do it) and had no issues. Any thoughts - thank you.
The adds work but when the show starts it keeps cutting out and buffering. Join the club! I just tried to watch 'tonight' programme and the only watchable part was the ads. What a rubbish website and what a rubbish service. It kept cutting out every 5 seconds and buffering! ITV have a lot to learn from BBC!

Last night at about 12.30am, ITV was on TV Catch up on demand, Emmerdale and Coronation Street was on their episodes over the past week until Monday. Now ITV has disapeared off the channel list. ITV could at least get rid of all the crap they have on their catch up and have the Bill... i dont mind the adverts but they really need to get the bill there people will just stick to the illegal method of downloading the show from torrent sites otherwise!!
ITV Player has the poorest "catchup" quality, 4OD's SD quality is by far superior. On Sky 4OD and Demand 5 both have HD content and its all marked as HD on Sky. It also all comes from Sky's servers so its not quite the same as normal 4OD and Demand 5 as those come from Channel 4's and Channel 5's servers. All BBC iplayer and ITV player content ...
