Peteetneet Creek was a good camping spot on the Mormon Road, a Mormon pioneer and 49er wagon route between Salt Lake City, Utah and Los Angeles, California. The Latter-day Saints first settled in Payson in 1850. After improvements were made to the Mormon Road wagon route in 1855, it had become what was known as the Los Angeles - Salt Lake Road.
Description and history. The house was constructed of brick, stone and native wood in 1899 as a home for Christopher Flintoff Dlxon Jr. (b. 1861 in Ohio) whose family arrived in Payson in 1862 as pioneer Mormon settlers. He did well in cattle and wheat and eventually arranged to have this eclectic Victorian home built. It is a local landmark. [2]

The facility is named after Chief Peteetneet, the indigenous clan leader of a Tumpanawach Ute band, and a monument of him stands at the front of Center.
