Just for info purposes, all systems were streaming media from my home server. The ATV2 and AFTV were using LAN. The AFTV stick is WIFI, of course, but only about 10ft from the WAP. AFTV is using KODI RC2 while AFTV stick is using XBMC 13.2. ATV2 was using XBMC 13.2 also. Definitely would recommend the Amazon devices over the Apple one. the_buzz_man
For example, I have a computer that shares video files on my network, so that my Fire TV/Kodi can access it. I don't share folders that contain personal information. If you're not sure how to check that, you're probably safe. Windows and Mac computers don't share any information by default, besides what's in an obviously-marked "public" folder.

The "Lite" version of the Stick's remote has no Volume, Mute or Power OFF/ON buttons. The Fire TV Stick 3 & 4K and the Cube v2 does. (untested) - like all Amazon devices, NTFS formatted, connected - USB storage likely does not work. Like all budget Android devices, there is no VC-1 encoded video playback support. The best, easiest and cheapest (free) keyboard for Five TV, Fire Stick and Kodi is the Android app for Fire TV. It allows for all the functions of the basic remote plus voice commands and a soft keyboard which all work within Kodi. There is a sideload version for iPhone. The setup takes about 30 seconds.

A few years ago, I set a family member up with a Fire Stick 4K (2018), an SMAYS adapter, and a 2 TB hard drive formatted to 1.4 TB FAT32, as anything above 1.4 TB put the stick into a reboot loop. Same thing happened with the CCwGTV Google sent me for free in 2020 for being a YTTV subscriber.
