While id Software is responsible for Doom, Quake, and Rage. There might be a few familiar faces that share work on projects across multiple studios, but the bulk of the teams consist of different people. ZeniMax owns id Software, Bethesda, and MachineGames. And no, this doesn't mean that ZeniMax calls all the shots. Marty Stratton, and Hugo ...
They simply designated Bethesda as the publisher of id Software's titles, but they might as well change it. Zenimax is the "boss" here. but bethesda, id and zenimax all have to remain independent for liability purposes otherwise zenimax creates a headache when id causes a lawsuit or bethesda causes a lawsuit, the parent is protected from the ...
A chance for Aftershock for Quake to officially show up in the addons menu as well as all of the wacky DMAS## maps into the official multiplayer map lists
Anyway, nowadays Bethesda/Zenimax owns id software and the DOOM IP, and they definitely wouldn't allow that, and Valve wouldn't risk trying to get away with it. He clearly stands for freedom, anarchy and to share everything with people with love for them to experience something new and not for money, like pure art.
The fact that id Software created the Quake series, and that Bethesda owns id Soft is irrelevant. Raven developed most of the game, using id Software's IP and engine (id Tech 4). And since Bethesda owns ID Software which developed IDT5, they decided to use IDT5 where Arkane can recieve direct help from ID.
I think people got wrong in something, because they still think that the fact microsoft is buying bethesda, they think microsoft will own doom, but: Doomguy or Doom franchise do not belong to Bethesda, it does belong to Id Software. Bethesda is the publisher of the Doom franchise. So, doom is safe from microsoft's hands.
Why do I not trust Microsoft? Easy, they killed Rare (I know, I know. Their developers left beforehand, but they could have let them make the same games they made in the 90s but they didn't and now only focusing on a mediocre at best SoT), 343i is god awful, MS start projects they do not finish, they put predatory micro transactions in almost all of the games they own and publish
