Slow Scan or Frozen Scan & Zone Alarm: There have been some issues with zone alarm in the past and personally I don't feel it is a particularly good firewall, becoming rather bloated and the free version crippled in the strength of its outbound protection (in the hope you will buy the pro version).

I have the free Avast Antivirus installed on my Windows 10 computer but sometimes like to download and run the free Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool (KVRT) just as a second opinion scan for malware. It's frozen at 8%. I've also attempted to change the type of scan, etc. etc. I'm thoroughly unfamiliar with this, and I've never encountered an issue like this before. Also, I checked my virus chest and have three files in there, none of which are actually identified as viruses, but as windows system files.
Virus found - Win32:Malware-gen. Hello! I didn't know that my anti-virus (Avast) found any viruses, so because i run a daily scan with it, i checked the quaratine and there was 2 of the same virus! Win32:Malware-gen. I don't what kind of virus it is, but i readed that it could be a backdoor, trojan or spyware. No matter what, i want to delete it.
I am running Avast Premium Security 23.3.6058 (build 23.3.8047.782) on a Windows 10 system. I have used some form of Avast AV software for about 15+ years now
But after that, OneCare's scanner said I was virus free, it couldn't detect any virus/infected files or issues what so ever. So I thought deleting it got rid of the virus, but I still had my doubts. Eventually I installed Avast! and I did both a standard and thorough scan and it said I didn't have any infected files either.
Try a repair of avast and see if that restores the missing file. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this. What is the file name and location that you feel when restored kicks off the emails?
