The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Founded in 1860, it was originally held annually at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Later the venue rotated between a select group of coastal links golf courses in the United Kingdom.
The tournament began as the Quad Cities Open in 1971 as a "satellite event" on the PGA Tour, and became an official tour event in 1972, played in early autumn. [ 3 ] [ 4 ] [ 5 ] It moved to mid-July in 1974 , [ 6 ] and Ed McMahon served as tournament host from 1975 to 1979.

The Texas Children's Houston Open is a professional golf tournament in Texas on the PGA Tour, played in March. As a part of a restructuring of the schedule, the event moved to the fall in 2019. Because the tour year starts the previous fall, the event was not a part of the 2019 PGA Tour, but was one of the first events of the 2020 PGA Tour. [2]
