I have a Kay jewelers card ($0balance, good history, $6100CL) I want to make sure this card stays open because its got good history and is fantastic for my utilization. I tried calling Kay and asking how often I'd need to use the card before they auto-close it, which I understand they do, but the Rep said that wasn't something they could answer.
With a 600 score, she should be approved online. Kay has (in the recent past) given a credit line avg of active accounts. That would be $1500, but I would say depending on her income, expect $750-1250 with a max of $1500. If you do apply, please post your results!

Far more worth the risk than a retail card. Risk will always be oresent, but getting and staying informed with research and discussion will mitigate much of that risk. Hi.... The only negative to closing an account is if you need the available credit to help your utilization... if you have no debt, you have no utilization to worry about. I know alot of people here have a Kay Jewelers account. It was my first unsecured account I have ever had. My initial credit limit was $400 - 3887505.

I would stop by a local Kays and ask them about the process and if it's changed any recently. It could be their normal routine like suggested by @M_Smart007 . I have a Kay Jewelers card through Genesis. I called to ask about a Credit Limit Increase because looking to bump up my max credit limit - 6682078.

Kay Jewelers approved. Applied for Kay credit card long time back and got a letter to contact them, and i did but they approved for a tiny 1K limit. Today got the card, registered online and asked for CLI, approved for 1K more, logged off and applied for CLI again and approved for another 1K, made my total CL to 3K.
Now that I have everything paid off and we've looked at rings it has me thinking about financing. I'm looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of a $2500-$4000 purchase price and I have over $1500 to put down on it at the moment (should have another $1500 within a month or two).
