A course section number is a five-digit code that indicates the day, time, location and instructor of a course. It is set by the department of the course and differs from a session code.

You may request a section change during weeks 4 through 12 of the semester. Section changes can be made only if the course prefix, course number and session numbers are the same for each section. For example, you cannot switch from BUAD-301 Section 12345 (Session 001) into BUAD-104 Section 54321 (Session 113).

Register for one of the courses that conflicts in web registration as the first step. Second, email the 5-digit section number of the course you wish to register for via our contact form. If the course has multiple components such as a discussion, lab and quiz, you will need to provide the 5-digit sections numbers for those sections as well.
D-clearance is granted for specific sections of a course. You can check the sections you have been given D-clearance for on Web Registration by clicking on "myInfo" and then on "Cleared Sections." If you have questions about the section you were cleared for, follow up with the department that grants D-clearance for that course.
If you need to add or drop a non-ALI course, you may do so by submitting an inquiry to the Registrar One Stop Center. You must provide the 5-digit section number of the course (including any lab/discussion/quiz sections). Failure to provide complete and accurate student, instructor or course information will delay review and processing of the time conflict request. Once you’ve completed your portion (page 1) of the form, it will be sent to the first instructor you listed. After the first instructor makes a decision, the form will be sent to the second instructor.
