As the costs of Disney vacations - and specifically Disney cruises - continue to increase far in excess of the rate of inflation, they really need to a.) add a $1,000 denomination for these cards at purchase; b.) raise the maximum balances on these cards to, say, $2500; and/or c.) let you store more than five cards online.

Before I consolidate all my Disney Gift cards onto one card online, does anyone know if the total on the cards (that were purchased here in Canada) is converted to USD, or does it stay in Canadian Dollars for the consolidation?

Oct 29, 2011. Mar 24, 2014. #1. I know I've read here on the boards that you take take your small value Disney Gift Cards to you local Disney Store and they will consolidate them into a larger increment Gift Card. I called both of my local stores and both said they were not able to do that.

While they do, it can get murky if the consolidated gift card was used to pay for several cruises after consolidation - and in different amounts than how the amounts were consolidated. They can use a FIFO, LIFO, or weighted average assumption, but - in all likelihood - they will find it easier just to send new gift cards worth $1,000 each.

The limit is per order. The $500 cards are one per order, so I usually just stand at self checkout and buy, pay, repeat until I have the total I need. The only reason I have a Sam's card is for the discounted Disney gift cards. I was sad to see they recently went up on price for their $500 cards (2nd price increase within the last 2 yrs).
