As of May 2024, the standalone BritBox (UK) app has been discontinued, and replaced by the BritBox channel on ITVX Premium. The service was rolled out on 17 November 2022, before it officially launched on 8 December.
Since November 2022, a round-the-clock feed of Unwind footage is available as part of the line-up of FAST channels offered within the 'Live TV' section of ITVX. The show is also available for late-night viewing on ITV channels 1–4 and ITVBe. Select episodes previously broadcast on ITV1 are available on ITVX under the title Unwind with ITV1.

It premiered on 22 December 2022 in the United Kingdom on ITVX, and on Amazon Prime Video in the United States on 2 December 2022. In December 2023, the series was cancelled after one series.
In 2022, when ITVX launched its add-free premium service it included Britbox progammes. In April 2024, BritBox ceased streaming in the UK as a standalone app, as well as no longer being featured as part of other services, such as Amazon Prime Video. Its content has been absorbed entirely into ITVX's premium streaming service.

It launched on 8 December 2022. ITVX will provide archive ITV shows, shows and films for which ITV plc owns the license, live events and original programming. In total, ITV says the service will have 10,000 hours of content. There will be a free ad-supported tier and a premium subscription which will be ad-free and allow access to BritBox.
