Sorry im late, google brought me here. And yes norton sucks ass. I just spent 30 min reinstalling more ram into my roomates computer only to find out hes running norton and thats why his computer runs like shit. His desktop literally takes 20 min to load and register all the software because norton sucks up all the power.
NikosNx. • 1 yr. ago. Norton is actually good: it’s lightweight, it does not scan intercept HTTPS scanning badly (MITM method with certificate) as most vendors do, it has a very good IPS that no other product has and it scans very fast.
Everyone. Lets open a thread where we can links posts already created regarding issues with the latest version. So that. The global Admins/Moderators can see everything in one place vice being posted all over. If that sounds good to everyone, please add your issues here. I will do my best to locate, and add links to other threads for review here. Hoping we can get things to the Dev teams as ...
Resource Monitor shows that Norton is scanning or working with a lot of files, but as I said, I didn’t order any scans, clean up or disk optimization. No notifications about any threats, no items in quarantine either. . Multiple Processes. In Task Manager there are multiple processes for Norton 360 (NortonUI).
So my personal recommendation is Bitdefender and bitdefender vpn. This is from someone who has been using PCs since the early 90s and I have used Norton which is one of the worst antiviruses around. Kapersky, Macafee, Avast & Malwarebytes. Personally I wouldnt install Norton on anything.
For all of your Antivirus needs. Norton sucks now. This stupid shit keeps popping up. I assume your WiFi network is secured with WEP or WPA instead of WPA2/3 encryption which is why Norton is warning you. +1 for being the ONLY one here actually trying to help improve OP’s security.

I have already upgraded to the Platinum version, but still encounter homepage promotions. Even if I can endure the homepage advertisements, there are bugs in the UI main program. Once, after installation, the NortonUI program had bugs, occupying a large amount of CPU and memory ...
People just got into the habit of hating Norton. I’ve been using Norton products off and on since Peter Norton started the company. I didn’t like the Symantec takeover but that’s life. Norton products were bloated in the distant past after the Symantec takeover, but I see no issues with the latest versions. I’ve been back since around 2017.
I have mostly used one of the Norton security products for many years, with occasional moves to McAfee (it sucked), and Avast years ago (was OK, but, lacked features). The current version of Norton is driving me crazy with the constant upselling. The Norton Backup seems to wipe out backed up files at random times.
At one time it used to be good - before Symantec took over. Norton acts more like a virus and entrenches itself deep into your system. The software will do more harm to your PC than good and when you to to remove it, it leaves behind over 375 traces in your registry files/folders and subsystem.
