Love ‘em both but Hendrix can be the only correct answer. Stevie kicked the crap outta that song, but as others mentioned, it was like his tribute. I’d like to think even SRV would vote for Jimi. stimpson said: Little Wing = i prefer the SRV version... only because Hendrix's version is too short. Again, love ‘em both.

Messages. 12,567. Jan 30, 2018. #50. Stevie executes the piece very well on guitar, with his characteristic fire. However, Hendrix was a transcendent, unfathomable force of nature. There is no way to copy him because even he can't copy himself. Jimi's not really even playing the guitar, in a crazy sense.

And just today have I played the Brown mode, thinking it was reserved for VH fans and other metal textures. But right away I started easily dialing in a good rendering of SRV Voodoo Child tone. That means it was the intent of Boss to have a SRV tonescape on each mode. A little nitch where if you do this you get Stevie type tone.

KT66 basically are HiFi tubes and came into use in the 200 watts tops from Marshall. Stevie Ray Vaughan used to run a quartet of KT66 in his famed Dumble Steel String singer amp. Whoever has heard his record "The sky is crying" (eg Little Wing) has had a glimpse of how these tubes sound.
