Big Lots is closing up to 315 stores across multiple states as it suffers from growing financial woes. The discount homeware chain has identified scores of locations across states such as Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire and Vermont which are due to close. (Now at least 36 states) The Columbus, Ohio-based chain has not published a full list of closures. But stores that are ...
Full Member. 2.3k. Location/ZIP Code:Cottage Grove (TC Jester by I-10) Posted May 24, 2005. Yeah, Big Lots often takes older retail space and sets up their stores. I wondered what will happen to Hwy 6 with all thoses abandoned retail locations because stores moved out to near the new US 59. Quote.
1 lot = 100 shares. Also known as a "round lot". Less than 100 shares = an "odd lot". "bid" means there are potential buyers bidding that much money for that many lots. "ask" means there are sellers asking that much money for that many lots. The information could be of value if you are interested in thinly traded, low priced stocks sometimes ...
For all I know, Big Lots is where Weingarten's was. But keep in mind that Gulfgate was completely demolished. The HEB was a new building. I haven't been in it, but it's huge. EDIT: As I look back on the history of this thread, I see that gnu wrote that "in the last years of Gulfgate" the former Weingarten's became a Pic-N-Sav and then a ...
Also, a few weeks ago, I noticed the Goody's sign is gone and Big Lots is opening its place. To be honest, I didn't miss Big Lots when it left the first time.
When big lots opened it was an actual discount store. The bought "lots" of items that were heavily discounted then put them in stores to sell. Now it's a furniture store and other dollar general stuff at marked up prices.
I'm glad to see outsiders have the huevos to move there and take advantage of the big lots, proximity and cheap prices. Smart, early money says follow the urban artists. They have proven themselves to be the pioneers in the urban ecosystem. Sort of like the biblical dove that carried the olive branch back to Noah or the seed that sprouts amid the manure (no offensive intended). The poor are ...
The lack of zoning means that density can grow organically in Houston, as opposed to places with many square miles of land zoned as single family only, where there can be no density increase. And, the area in the picture wasn't exactly high end. It was a bunch of really run down mid 20th Century frame houses on larger lots.
Yeah, the Big Lots was a Wal-Mart, and the Hobby Lobby was a Kmart. While Wal-Mart moved twice and is still around as a Supercenter, the Kmart cut out about a decade before they left Houston area for good.
Recently I've been wondering about Kmart. I know it was at the corner of the Texas and 2818, where TSC/Asian grocery is now...when did it close, again? 1996?
