Just curious about what the general consensus seems to be about using Vortex for Nexus Mods. It sounded useful, but it didn't seem to work super well when I tried it (I could've messed up or made a mistake in trying to use it for Cyberpunk too soon). The manual method seems pretty easy in the first place though, but I just wanted to see what ...
Step 2. Install Vortex Mod Manager. First, launch Steam Tinker Launch, click the Vortex option, and select the Install option, selecting the default Vortex Proton version. Next, click the Install button to begin the installation process which will take a couple of minutes, and once finished click the Start button to launch Vortex. Step 3. Using ...
Vortex download failed. Hey everyone, I'm having some problems with my mod manager. I'm quite new at modding so I use vortex. When I try to download from nexus, Vortex would pop up the message "download failed" at the top right bell icon. When I click on "more", it says "network connect was not permitted, please check your firewall settings".
Vortex download speeds unbearably slow. Downloading mods on Vortex results in speeds fluctuating between 50 and 0 KB/s. I'm able to download much faster on Steam. Fast.com and speedtest.net both say my download speeds are over 100 mbps, but Vortex isn't reflecting this. I've tried restarting Vortex and my computer, but the speeds haven't ...

1: Under \program files\ or \program files (x86)\. 2: Under where you've installed the Vortex application, since updating Vortex application always removes all files and sub-folders. 3: Under games directory. 4: Under "Mod Staging Folder", here the installed mods will be placed. 5: As a Onedrive-folder, in case you're using "Files On-Demand".
For added context, I want to try modding Baldur's Gate 3, but I don't know whether or not to trust the Vortex Mod Manager. Furthermore, it needs something called .NET 6.0+, which I have never heard of.
Vortex uses hardlinks, so the files appear in windows explorer as if they really were there, but they aren't. So no worries, that 120 GB is all the space your mods are taking on your system atm. If you really want to trim that down you can go to the Vortex downloads folder and delete the archives there, but then you can't reinstall any mods ...
I only got experience in modding Minecraft and a few Steam games with manual modding and downloading the mods from the nexus mods website but I have never used a mod manager like Vortex. The only one I used was the CurseForge launcher which automatically downloads all required other mods a mod needs. But from what I have heard it is not good ...
