I have good distance vision as expected, I have good mid-range vision (to type on my Mac Air) but my near vision (to see my smartphone and read a book or textbooks) is blurry.

The PanOptix lens acts more like a trifocal lens, providing short-mid-and-long distance viewing, but still suffers from some of the light halos at night, due to its outer “close up rings”. I debated going with two Vivity lenses and reading glasses, but I really LOVED the idea of never needing glasses or contacts.

Vivity is not a MF. It is a refractive lens that just give a little bit of EDOF; around .5D, which means you might gain 1 line on an eye chart. It is supposed to provide the same overall benefits of a monofocal, but gain a little bit of intermediate.
The Vivity IOL generates the extended depth of field by means of the aspherical front lens surface and a spherical rear surface.. The lens optic is biconvex, aspheric, wavefront shape, made of a hydrophobic acrylate/ methacrylate copolymer with UV and blue light filter material. The lens is pupil independent. The options offered to me for my second eye are the monofocal AcrySof again for $0, an AcrySof IQ Toric for $1100, a Vivity for $2175, or PanOptix for $2175. The Vivity and PanOptix are non toric or toric for the same price. Of these choices I have selected the new monofocal Clareon for $300. My surgeon discouraged me from going with the Vivity.
