You have set DDG as the search engine to be used when you type your search terms in the address bar, whatever page you're on. You can also specify that when you search from the New Tab Page, you want to get results from DDG. The page that opens when you open Edge is specified at ⋯ (Settings and more) > Settings > On start-up.
After some tries to duplicate this problem I found out that DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Bing, and other search engines are hidden when you use languages like Nederlands, Suomi, or others I haven't tried. Don't know what's the need behind this, but you can always turn your device language back to English to use them.

To reach the DDG search engine page, I have to click on the DDG link shown under the search box. After changing the default search engine to DDG (as shown in my previous messg), I should get the DDG search page upon clicking on New Tab, which is what I want. Instead, I continue to get the Bing search page above. Again, thanks so much for your time.
click the Ellipsis (...) to the right of DuckDuckGo and select Make Default. there really is no need to remove the others but, if you wish to, click the ellipsis to the right of each and select Remove - you cannot remove the default search engine. click on "Address Bar and search at the top of the page if "Search engine used in the address bar."
Clarification: DuckDuckGo does appear in 'about:addons' > 'Extensions', and it is enabled. However, in 'Preferences' > 'Search' > 'Default Search Engine', DuckDuckGo doesn't appear in the drop-down list. In the actual 'Search' bar, all my search engines appear except for DuckDuckGo.
Restore default search engines. If you remove any of the search engines that come with Firefox by default, click Restore Default Search Engines at the bottom of the Search panel to bring them back. Add a new search engine. Click the Find more search engines link at the bottom of the Search panel.
