ProMaxx makes a good head, it's been discussed a few times over on the SpeedTalk forum, which is more of an engine builder, head porting specialist, machinist frequented board....a few of the custom head porters have remarked that it is a quality piece.

    My ProMaxx Maxx 200cc sbc heads arrived. They showed up assembled with their parts. I had sent them my parts to assemble them. Someone messed up. They sent my parts back to me so I am goin to assemble them myself but I did get them for $815 with their valves. Valves are REV valves. Had XVT stamped on them.

    I just built a 355 with ProMaxx Maxx 183 heads. Engine runs great and not looking for new heads, but I was looking at the AFR 195 Enforcer heads. I had never seen them before. I got to looking at the advertised flow numbers for the AFR's. Maxx183's flow a little better at lower lifts, but they are pretty equal at .500.

    Unless you are using a VERY mild cam, you will be able to use 64-65cc heads with flat tops on a 383 SBC (10.3:1). For street, check dynamic compression ratio is 8.0 - 8.5:1 (or a little bit higher) with whatever cam you use. Use 195cc heads for up to 6250 rpm. 210c heads for 6250+ rpm.
