At the moment my problem appears solved by removing any/all cookies relating to Facebook. I think this resolved it because there may have been conflicts with an OLD Facebook account I had a long time ago through the same email address. (a clue for me was that the current account has a profile photo; the old one did not.)

When I go back to messenger.com, I have to do the cycle again, and it just goes on. I just end up using Facebook's little chat box :( It's been like this for like a week and it's really annoying because accessing messenger.com directly is more convenient than opening Facebook to go to Messenger. Hope you can help me!
I am not trying to use Facebook's messenger and I am not talking about connecting Facebook to my Outlook. I am talking strictly connecting Facebook to my Microsoft Account for other reasons in addition to using Facebook as an alternative way to log into various Microsoft services such as Bing.
I had logged into facebook on my laptop on July 25th, 2021 and opened to two different facebook pages. One of them I ended up logging out of facebook from, and the other one I kept open to that page in case I decided to go back to that page later to watch a video. However, since I had logged out, I had assumed that Edge would keep me logged out.

I first noticed the problem when i went to login and it wouldn't let me login so i backed up and pressed the "Login with Facebook" link. I've uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled. I can even cut and paste but it won't let me type in the chat boxes or "anywhere". I'm running current Win 11 version.
You have to do from Facebook app. You can stop notifications from specific people, prevent certain types of notifications or change how you receive notifications by changing the settings on your Facebook account. Press the small arrow in the upper right corner of your Facebook page. Slide down and click on "Account Settings."
