Going to disagree with others, if I am trying to create an id.me account with someone else’s ID I am not using their email address, same if trying to buy a boat fraudulently. More likely you have an email address almost identical to someone else and they are giving the wrong email address. Id.me is very good at identity confirmation.

Id.me is a legit company for identity verification, but he is abusing it and could do a lot of damage to you. The website is legit. But everything else screams fraud. Sounds more like you're being set up to appear as the suspect in some other fraud. Run away from that.
One of my aunts encouraged my wife and I to download “ID.ME” in order to take advantage of the veteran discounts. I have it and I have verified that I am a veteran. I am just not sure if businesses are familiar enough with it to know that when I show it, it verifies that I am a veteran. Archived post.
Don't think id.me is the problem.. Deo and florida government is the real scam. I’ve yet to receive my first payment and I’ve been trying since June/July. For what it’s worth there have been mentions on here that the system periodically resets people’s pins.
I refuse to create an ID.me account on principle: the federal government should not be gating services using a private identity authentication service that is using its federal mandate to create a facial identification database. I have called my congressperson repeatedly about this and encourage everyone else to do the same.
