The glaring issue for me was that my Curseforge launcher wasn't up to date. [If yours is also outdated > open the Curseforge launcher > on your modpack, right click and select View Profile > select the three dots next to play > select Profile Options > under Current Modloader Versions, select a newer version > Done].
honestly I didn't have high hopes for curseforge as someone who plays minecraft and gets their mods from there. Their system can be very confusing on what works with what game version. We will see as new sims updates release how easy it is to use still.
Open the :grass~1: Minecraft section of the app. Click the top search bar where it says Search for modpacks OR Click the Browse Modpacks Tab. Find the Modpack you want to install and click install on it. Wait for the CurseForge app to download and unpack all the required files. Once finished, click Play!
That's up to the launcher (s), and my thoughts would be conjuncture. For the most part it's probably because CurseForge and Overwolf are drama magnets at the moment. Plus such a partnership will almost certainly require putting a single ad in the app which obviously drives many people crazy. Look at Modrinth.

for those not using the curseforge launcher, look for the forge installer, click on the three lines at the top left corner and find your game version then download the installer. Turn on CurseForge -> Go to its settings -> Change the first option that appears to 'close CurseForge and Overwolf when I close the App'. Run modpack (brings up vanilla's Launcher), close CurseForge's window which closes both CurseForge and Overwolf completely, hit launch (and only then actually start loading Minecraft).
