I knew the person I picked out from a hat. got him something he really liked. and then when the event ended a week or two later, I got nothing. my secret Santa just didn't feel like doing it and he ended up quitting the job not long after.

Thanks for the feedback! It shouldn't be possible to be assigned yourself, I used Sattolo's algorithm to generate the pairings. Changing the name in the param wouldn't give you another person's secret santa, as the block cipher would just be the cipher of your assignment.
