The good news is, the state tax agency provides a data file containing (among other things) zip+4 info correlated with city, county, and state sales tax rates. So I parsed this data file with a perl script to remove unnecessary stuff and loaded it into a mysql table. Then my modified module searches first for zip+4 in that table.

I've worked out the local sales tax zones in Colorado (Colorado state, Denver Metro RTD, Denver) by zip code - it's probably not 100% accurate, but it should be better than 95%. I'd be happy to share it with anyone setting up the local sales tax module for Colorado.

And for every zone i have 2 tax rates ( they're all the same 20% and 8.5 % ). This is manly for testing, later on they'll have different tax rates. Anyway, I've entered a product with a Net price of 101.7500, and in admin the gross prices calculates to 180.0975.
Well the issue is it wipes out the sales tax. So instead of editing the order, I'll need to manually place the order again with the correct added items, removed items, pricing, etc. and then export it or go into myphp and manually rebuild the order in the database which I rather not do.
I am having problems setting up a tax on existing stock. In the process of re-setting my account, I deleted the zone in which all of our stock set its tax to. I remade the zone, and realized only later that this was why the zone was failing to be taxed. Does anyone have a way to apply a tax to each item in all categories?
