This worked for me and fixed my similar issue. Thanks for the research and tip. I signed into AOL.com through URL: AOL:com then went to: Account Security. Manage APP Passwords - generated a onetime password for "Outlook Desktop" but there are other choices. Highlighted and copied the password then.
