URI Health Services is accredited by The Joint Commission. Should you have a patient care or safety concern, contact the Director of URI Health Services to try and resolve the matter. If the matter remains unresolved, you can contact The Joint Commission for assistance.
Services provided include ambulatory medical services, office visits, specialty clinics, allergy, immunization and travel services, psychiatric services, and pharmacy, x-ray and laboratory services on site. Our Health Promotion Department provides educational programs along with nutritional services and counseling.
At-home test kits are available for no cost at Health Services for students at the URI Pharmacy. If you are not feeling well, please be sure to put a mask on as you enter the building and proceed to the pharmacy. One test per student with student ID. Free at-home COVID-19 tests from the government are no longer available.

While some basic services are covered by the mandatory Health Services Fee, you also need be covered by injury and sickness insurance while at URI. You can either use the plan offered by URI, or request a waiver if you already have comparable coverage.
Laboratory Services Our federally licensed laboratory in the Potter Building provides routine laboratory work, such as blood glucose, complete blood counts, mono tests, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, rapid tests for strep and flu, and HIV screening.
URI HS Pharmacy is licensed by the State of Rhode Island and Federal DEA and is staffed by registered pharmacists. It provides non-prescription (OTC) and prescription (Rx) to the URI student population.
The URI Counseling Center is staffed by licensed mental health professionals and provides counseling, referrals, outreach programs, and online self-assessments. The Center’s goal is to help students effectively manage crises and personal problems that may interfere with academic, personal, and career goals.
